The World Climate Research Programme has established the Surface Radiation Budget Climatology Project with the ultimate goal of providing, for the scientific community, a long‐term (10 years) data set of the global surface radiation budget. This report describes the first global product produced and archived as part of that effort. It reviews product content and accuracy, and highlights sample data from several regions around the globe. Interested users can obtain global data sets, at no cost, from the Langley Distributed Active Archive Center.
