Like P. syringae pv. phaseolicola , other pathovarieties of the Pseudomonas syringae group ( P. syringae pv. glycinae, P. syringae pv. syringae, P. syringae pv. tabaci , and P. syringae pv. tomato ) possess two sucrose splitting enzymes, a constitutive levansucrase found both extracellularly and cellularly, and a cellular sucrase, the synthesis of which is regulated differently. In P. fluorescens , a closely related saprophytic pseudomonad, only a levansucrase was found.
