Proteolytic enzymes produced by some strains of Bacillus sp. were isolated by column chromatography on sawdust. Ballast proteins were eluted with water while the adsorbed proteinases were eluted with 1 m sodium chloride solution. The specific activities of proteinases increased 54‐ to 70‐fold after chromatography.
