Cover illustration: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen causing various acute and chronic biofilm related infections. This organism produces Pseudomonas quinolone signal (PQS) molecule as a component of quorum sensing mechanism which regulates the expression of different virulence factors as well as biofilm formation. Expression of biofilm associated factors such as alginate, rhamnolipids make the organism capable to form biofilm on biotic and abiotic surfaces. In biofilm, rod shaped cells appear completely enclosed in a self‐produced polymeric matrix. This image is scanning electron microscopic image of P. aeruginosa cells attached to an inert surface in biofilm mode of growth.
