Isolation of streptomycetes from soil samples for investigation of secondary metabolite production. As streptomycetes are known to have a very versatile secondary metabolism, potential antibiotics, siderophores, and other molecules of interest to biotechnology can be identified from these grampositive, high G+C content, filamentous bacteria.
