Two strains of Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) isolated from tomato plants were characterized by biological, biochemical, immunological and electron microscopical techniques including immuno‐electron microscopy. The biological tests indicated, on the basis of symptoms observed on differential hosts, differences between the two strains. However, detailed studies with the other techniques mentioned above did not reveal significant differences.
