The action of pH on respiratory metabolism, evolution of carbohydrate, and sporulation are studied. Experiments have been made with cells harvested during the early log phase or during the late log phase. Carbohydrate reserves are synthesized from the acetate only when there is sporulation. At the end of the sporulation, glycogen is very abundant in asci. Physiological state, pH, and sporulation are discussed.
