Abstract The nuclear uptake and retention of androgen in the lower brainstem of the baboon was examined after the injection of 3 H‐5α‐dihydrotestosterone. A specific topographical pattern of localization was observed in both motor systems and somatosensory systems. The pattern was similar to that reported in the rhesus monkey. The localization found in the primate differs from that of the rat in that the localization demonstrated in the rat is primarily restricted to motor systems.
