The Figure represents a posteroventral section of the basolateral complex of the amygdala (BLA) stained for Fluoro Jade C in an animal 7 days after exposure to soman (1.4XLD50). Animals were pretreated with HI‐6 30 min before and injected with atropine 1 min after and diazepam 2 hours after soman exposure. This image demonstrates non‐uniform neuropathological damage to the BLA whereby certain regions within the amygdala display more significant neuronal loss while other structures are only mildly affected.
