The carbocyanine dye DiD was injected at 0.15 μM in the lateral ventricle of a rat which was sacrificed after 1 hour. DiD (in red) can easily diffuse through the different cellular layers (in this image green highlights vimentin+ cells) of the subventricular zone after its injection in the lateral ventricle, as well as it can easily define myelinated structures in the caudoputamen (blue represent the nucleus).
