This letter to the Editor is in response to the paper “Conceptualisation of the characteristics advanced practitioners in the medical radiation professions” by Smith et al. The writer reflects on the implications of not explicitly listing research in the conceptual model of advanced practice, thereby running the risk of diminishing the importance of research in advanced practice.
