Our purpose was to evaluate if temperature changes occur in maternal or fetal tissues during HASTE imaging. Methods: Pregnant pigs were scanned with the HASTE technique, and temperatures were measured with phase maps and temperature probes inserted into the amniotic fluid and fetal brain. Results: Fiberoptic probes showed that no heating occurred in fetal tissues or amniotic fluid during HASTE imaging. Conclusion: Our current HASTE protocols do not deposit a significant amount of heat in the gravid uterus. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2001;13:856–861. © 2001 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
