Only two annelid species for which a branched body with one head and multiple posterior ends are known. The species live in marine sponges with the head located deep within the sponge, and the branches of the body extending through the canal system of their host. In this issue of the Journal of Morphology, Ponz–Segrelles and coauthors (pp. 900–916) report about the morphology of Ramisyllis multicaudata , using synchrotron radiation tomography, light and electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry. The cover image shows a fragment of the anterior end of a live Ramisyllis multicaudata of an individual dissected out of its host sponge.
