Abstract The development of the nervous system is traced by stages and, in general, is found similar to that already described for other insects. Terms such as ganglionic gangliomeres, medullary masses, optic nerve, etc., are shown to have no significance. The intraganglionic thickening of Viallanes is shown to be a misnomer. A chronological table of the developmental processes is appended.
