Chordotonal organs are present in the prothoracic, mesothoracic and metathoracic femora of Melanoplus differentialis. These have been described and their development traced from ectodermal invaginations located at the proximal and distal ends of the prothoracic and mesothoracic and at the distal end of the metathoracic femora of the embryo.
