Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Counseling Services Among Chinese International Students: Acculturation, Ethnic Identity, and English Proficiency

The authors examined the help‐seeking attitudes of 109 Chinese international students studying in the United States. Results revealed that significant relationships exist among acculturation, ethnic identity, English proficiency, and attitudes toward seeking professional counseling services. Limitations and recommendations for future research are discussed. Los autores examinaron las actitudes hacia la búsqueda de ayuda de 109 estudiantes internacionales chinos cursando estudios en Estados Unidos. Los resultados revelaron que existen relaciones significativas entre la aculturación, la indentidad étnica, el dominio del idioma y las actitudes hacia la búsqueda de servicios profesionales de consejería. Se discuten las limitaciones y recomendaciones para investigaciones futuras.
