Methods have been developed for isotopic labelling of the benzophenone‐containing cholesterol analogue 1 and the fatty acid analogue 2 by use of deuteriated sodium borohydride derivatives. These procedures avoid the commercial catalytic tritiation which had previously been used to obtain 3 H‐ 1 and 3 H‐ 2 . Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
