The synthesis and in vitro binding of high specific activity tritium labelled 4‐fluoro‐1‐[1‐(3‐hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexyl] piperidine ([ 3 H]FOH‐PCP), a potential probe for autoradiographic study of the phencyclidine (PCP) receptor is described. [ 3 H]FOH‐PCP will allow evaluation of [ 18 F]FOH‐PCP as a PET scanning ligand for PCP receptors.
