The synthesis of [5‐ 125 I]iodoacetamidoethyl aminonaphthalene‐1‐sulfonic acid ([ 125 ]IAEDANS) was accomplished beginning from sodium [ 125 I]iodide. The product was entrapped within positively charged liposomes after ideal preparatory conditions were determined. The stability of the preparation after exposure to elevated temperatures and light was measured as well as the release rate of [ 125 I]IAEDANS from the liposomes. Liposome‐entrapped [ 125 I]IAEDANS is a potential radiopharmaceutical for imaging of infarcted myocardial tissue.
