[α‐ 14 C]‐benzylguanidine ( 1 ) having a specific activity of 14 mCi/mmol was synthesized in 55% yield (isolated) by reacting [α‐ 14 C]‐benzylamine hydrochloride and cyanamide in 1‐butanol.
