The compositions of different compounds of 99 Tc(IV) and hydroxy‐ethylidendiphosphonic acid have been evaluated using spectrophotometrical and potentiometric methods. The ligand reacts with K 2 TcBr 6 as well as with TcO 4 ′ and SnCl 2 under formation of Tc(OH) 3 LH 3 , Tc(OH) 3 LH 2 − , TcOOHLH 2− , Tc 2 (OH) 4 LH 3 3+ Tc 2 (OH) 6 LH 2 , Tc 2 (OH) 8 L 4− and Tc(OH) x (LH y ) 2 (4‐x+8+2y)+ complexes respectively. In account of the minor technetium concentrations in 99m Tc‐radiopharmaceuticals for skeletal imaging the last mentioned compound may be the major component in such preparations.
