Reactor produced 99 Mo is the source of 99m Tc used in 85% of nuclear medicine studies but the worldwide supply is currently very fragile. This has forced radiopharmaceutical scientists to make more efficient use of available 99 Mo, to explore new routes to produce it, and to develop alternative agents such as 68 Ga complexes.
