Synthetic routes adaptable to the preparation of a variety of d 7 ‐labeled monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids are reported. Using these reaction sequences, d 7 ‐oleic [18:1 (9c)], d 7 ‐elaidic [18:1 (9t)], and d 7 ‐stearic acid (18:0) were prepared for use in metabolism studies as stable isotope‐labeled tracers.
