Peritoneal exudate macrophages from C3H/OuJ ( Lps n ) and C3H/HeJ ( Lps d ) mice were treated with interferon α (IFN‐α), and isotype‐specific phagocytosis and gene expression were measured. IFN‐α selectively augments phagocytosis of IgG2a, with a highly significant induction of Fc γ RI mRNA expression, while parallel Fc γ RIIIα measurements show a relatively small increase.
