Tetrahydrobenz[ cd ]indole derivatives ( 51–54 ) were synthesized from 4‐iodo‐3‐(2′‐nitroethyl)indole ( 10 ) via palladium‐catalysed coupling with acetylenes followed by a thiol addition, an oxidation and an intramolecular Michael‐addition.
