In the culture broth of the fungus Clitocybe diatreta a novel diketopiperazine metabolite, diatretol ( 1 ), was detected by chemical screening. The structure was established on the basis of 1 H‐ and 13 C‐NMR data and single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. Diatretol exhibits a low antibacterial activity and inhibits the growth germination of Lepidium sativum .
