Macrocyclic polythioethers ( 7 – 10 , 17 ) and the oxothioether 21 were synthesized by starting with the key compound 4,5‐bis(benzoylthio)‐1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione ( 1 ). Intramolecular phosphite coupling reactions yielded symmetrically and unsymmetrically substituted tetrathiafulvalenes 11 – 14 and 22 , respectively.
