The title compound 2 , a very close derivative of the still elusive ethenedione ( 1 ), was generated by photocleavage of the three different precursor molecules 7–9 in an argon matrix at 10 K. The structure elucidation of monoxime 2 is based on the comparison of the experimental and calculated IR spectrum.
