In addition to the previously described lintenolides A and B ( 3a, b and 4a, b ), the marine sponge Cacospongia cf. linteiformis was also found to produce the three new lintenolides C ( 7a, b ), D ( 8a, b ) and E ( 9a, b ), all possessing the same highly antifeedant activity previously found in lintenolides A and B. The stereostructures of the metabolites were mainly elucidated by extensive NMR studies.
