A new approach to 3,6‐disubstituted chiral piperazinones 6a, b and 7a, b from D‐glucosamine hydrochloride ( 1 ) or N ‐Z‐ D ‐glucosamine ( 8 ) and L‐amino acid derivatives 2a, b or 9a, b is presented. Both final products and the intermediate pseudopeptides constitute valuable starting materials for the synthesis of peptidomimetics.
