A new seco ‐labdane diterpene, maravuic acid, has been isolated by supercritical fluid extraction using CO 2 from the bark of Croton matourensis Aubl. (Euphorbiaceae). Its structure was elucidated by one and two dimensional NMR methods as (12 E )‐3,4‐ seco ‐labda‐4(18),8(20),12,14‐tetraen‐3‐oic acid 2.
