The absolute configuration of thiangazole ( 1 ), which was previously derived by chemical degradation, was confirmed by X‐ray structure analysis. Energy minimization with MO and MM2 methods indicate, that the conformation of 1 in the crystal is controlled by crystal forces while various equally preferred conformations may be present in solution.
