Highly Substituted Cyclopentadienes with Methylthio and Methylsulfonyl Groups Sodium cyclopentadiene ( 1 ) reacts with S ‐methyl methane‐thiosulfonate ( 2 ) to yield the hexakis(methylthio)cyclopentadiene ( 3 ), which is transformed into the pentakis(methylthio)‐cyclopentadienides 4 by S ‐nucleophiles. Oxidation of 4 gives rise to pentakis(methylsulfonyl)cyclopentadienide, isolated as tetraphenylarsonium salt 7 .
