Reaction of N ‐Substituted N ′‐Chlorobenzamidines with Potassium S ‐Methyl N ‐Cyanimidodithiocarbonate — a New Thiadiazole Synthesis In contrast to a known procedure for the synthesis of 1,2,4‐thiadiazoles 3 from N ‐unsubstituted N ′‐chlorobenzamidines 1a and potassium S ‐methyl cyanimidodithiocarbonate ( 2 ) the substituted amidines 1b – 1e form thiadiazoles 5a – d containing both nitrogen atoms of amidines in the ring system.
