Synthesis of ( R )‐Lasiodiplodin from Polyhydroxybutyric Acid The twelve‐membered macrolide ( R )‐lasiodiplodin ( 1 ), a fungal metabolite of Botrysdiplodia theobromae , has been synthesized in a nine‐step procedure. ( R )‐1,3‐Butanediol ( 6 ), which is easily available by reductive depolymerization of the biopolymer polyhydroxybutyric acid (PHB), proves itself as a suitable enantiomerically pure building block.
