3a‐Azaazulenones with a Carbonyl Group in the 5‐Membered Ring Syntheses and properties of unstable 3a‐aza‐3‐azulenones 1 are described. Attempts of a synthesis of 3a‐aza‐1‐azulenones 2 resulted in a formation of rearranged pyridones 10 and a dimer 11 indicating the unstable intermediates 2 .
