The syntheses of two new ([2,3‐ d ]‐ and [3,2‐ d ]‐fused) 2‐cholestenopyrimidines 2 and 5 are described. In their CD spectra, four Cotton effects can be observed, and they have been assigned to an n – π * (B 1 ), π – π * (B 2 ), and to two n – π * (A 2 ) transitions, respectively, from long to short wavelengths. The first two Cotton effects are positive for compounds 2a and 2b , but negative for 5 ; the third CD is negative, the fourth one positive for all isomers. The methyl group of 2b is of no influence upon the CD.
