A series of N 6 , N 6 ‐disubstituted 9 H ‐purin‐6‐amines 2a – i was prepared from 5‐acetamido‐6‐amino‐2‐methylpyrimidin‐4(3 H )‐one ( 1 ) and a secondary amine or its hydrochloride in the presence of phosphorus pentoxide and triethylamine hydrochloride.
