4‐Pyridoxthiol (I) wurde auf übersichtlichem Weg (X → XI → XII → I) hergestellt. I entsteht ferner beim Kochen von Pyridoxol (V) mit CS 2 und Alkali. Diese neue Reaktion zur Umwandlung alkalistabiler o ‐Hydroxymethyl‐phenole in o ‐Mercaptomethyl‐phenole wird an mehreren Beispielen untersucht.
