Abstract To understand the complex mechanism of the politics of food security in Bangladesh, this paper attempts to understand the discourse of food security and endeavour to unpack the way in which food security is framed in Bangladesh, and its key images and/or narratives. In doing so, this paper surveys food security literature in Bangladesh focusing on policy debates. Key findings of the paper are that food security is still merely political rhetoric in Bangladesh, and there is a lack of consensus in regard to food policy among various political actors.
