Abstract Making informed decisions about the reuse of single‐use medical devices requires considerable analysis, study and management buy‐in. This article addresses such issues as the prevalence of the practice, the changing standards and guidelines, institutional responsibilities, risk and insurance concerns and the ethical issues posed by the concept of reuse.
