A one‐pot procedure for the synthesis of 4‐arylidene‐2‐phenyl‐5(4 H )oxazolones directly from aryl aldehyde bisulfite adducts in the absence of Ac 2 O in good to excellent yields using phosphoryl chloride is reported. In addition, the observed chemoselectivity can be considered as a noteworthy advantage of this method.
