New tetracyclic 6 H ‐[1]benzopyrano[3,4‐ e ]pyrazolo[1,5‐ a ]pyrimidin‐6‐ones ( 4a‐e ) have been synthesized through the condensation under acidic conditions of [1]benzopyrano[4,3‐ c ][1,5]‐benzodiazepin‐7(8 H )‐one ( 1 ) and a series of 3,4‐disubsituted 5‐amino‐1 H ‐pyrazoles 3a‐e .
