A tert ‐butoxide base‐mediated cyclization of fluoro‐ and trifluoromethyl‐substituted Schiff bases 12‐19 produces 4‐ tert ‐butoxyquinolines 23‐30 which are hydrolyzed to quinolin‐4‐ols 31‐38 .
