Two new aza crown ethers, each containing two proton‐ionizable sulfonamide groups, have been synthesized by reacting o ‐phenylenediamine with a bis ‐sulfonyl chloride. These compounds transport alkali metal cations in a water‐methylene chloride‐water liquid membrane system at source phase p H values above 12. The crystal structure of one of the crown compounds was determined.
