Abstract Synthesis of 2‐deamino‐ and 2‐deamino‐2‐nitro‐chromophores of actinomycin was accomplished by reaction of nitrous acid in fluoroboric acid via diazotization of the 2‐amino group in the chromophore. Structural assignments were made by cmr and pmr.
