Nucleophilic attack of 8‐substituted indeno[1, 2‐ c ]isoxazol‐7‐ones ( 1 ) and 3‐phenylindeno[1, 2‐ c ]isoxazol‐4‐one (4) by dimethylsulfoxide or triphenylphosphine results in cleavage of the nitrogenoxygen bond of the isoxazole ring leading to the formation of sulfoximides ( 2 and 5 ) and phosphazenes ( 3 and 8 ).
