Base treatment of the pyrrolylthioacetate 2 and the pyrrolylthioacetonitrile 4 unexpectedly yielded a pyrrolo[2,1‐ b ]thiazole 6 and 2‐(α‐cyano‐2‐nitrobenzyl)thiopyrrole ( 7 ), respectively.
