A facile synthesis of 4,5‐dihydro‐1,2,4‐triazin‐3‐(2 H )one (2a) from 5‐methylthio‐1,2,4‐triazin‐3‐(2 H )one (1a) with sodium borohydride is described. The reaction provides a convenient method for its 6‐substituted derivatives (2b‐h).
