Thermal extrusion of sulfur dioxide from 1‐methyl‐3‐(5‐chlorosulfonyl‐1,3,4‐thiadiazol‐2‐yl)urea ( 1 ) provides 1‐methyl‐3(5‐chloro‐1,3,4‐thiadiazol‐2‐yl)urea in quantitative yield.
